I made a New Year's Resolution to run fewer miles and do more of 'something else'. In January I found that something else at a new fitness studio in downtown Raleigh called HEAT (Highly Effective Athletic Training). It focuses on strength training and intense intervals. I've seen results - both physical (fat loss) and in my running pace (my 10 mile pace is faster by 30 seconds per mile). Besides results, HEAT is a wicked fun place to sweat with other like-minded people.

I'm still registered to run the Chicago marathon this fall, and I am running a few halfs this spring, but I'm having fun with this 'something else' right now.
